; ; Yamazaki, Toshihiko; ; ; Kondo, Toshinari*; *

JNC TN8400 2001-030, 99 Pages, 2002/01

JNC-TN8400-2001-030.pdf:13.24MB

There is a great deal of that we build a Base-Isolated building with the quaternary deposit ground. In an atomic energy institution, a study request is strong. When we build a Base-Isolated building with the quaternary deposit ground, evaluation of earthquake vibration of a vertical direction is an important problem. In an atomic energy institution, we design it by big earthquake load, and therefore examination is necessary. And, in this study, we do examination to build a Base-Isolated building with the quaternary deposit ground, we report it about an evaluation method of a design. Furthermore, we report that we estimated pipe laying and machinery to put in a building of Base-lsolated.

JNC-TN8440-2001-023.pdf:3.91MB

The business of the Safety administration Division became a wide range such as the management of a labor safety health, the crisis management, the security and the management of an entrance, and the business of the following concerning the Tokai Works, the protection of nuclear materials, the business of the sanction, the nuclear material safeguards, the transport of nuclear materials and the business of a quality assurance. For the purpose of summarizing these businesses and utilizing the data concerning the businesses, the report about the businesses achievement has been periodically drawn up as quarter news since 2001, when the Safety Administration Division was established. This report describes about the business achievement of the second quarter news from July to September in 2001.

JCO criticality accident termination operation

Kanamori, Masashi

JNC TN8440 2001-018, 50 Pages, 2001/12

JNC-TN8440-2001-018.pdf:1.31MB

On September 30 at around 10:35 AM, criticality accident occurred at the JCO's conversion building in Tokai-mura. Since criticality accident had not been anticipated, neither devices for termination of criticality accident nor neutron detectors were available. Immediately after the information of the accident, our emergency staff (Japan Nuclear cycle development institute staff) went to JCO site, to measure the intensity of neutrons and gammas. There were four main tasks, first one was to measure the radiation intensity, second one was to terminate the criticality accident, third one is to alert the residents surrounding the JCO site, fourth one is to evacuate the employees in the site. These tasks were successfully performed until October 1. This paper describes about how these operations were performed by the relevant staffs.

As a consequence of this reorganization, the business of the Safety Administration Division became a wide range such as the management of a labor safety health, the crisis management, the security and the management of an entrance, the business of the sanction concerning the Tokai Works, the protection of nuclear materials, the nuclear material safeguards, the transport of nuclear materials and the business of a quality assurance. In the respect of the purpose of summarizing these businesses and utilizing the data concerning the businesses, the report about a business achievement was determined to make.

Annual report on the environmental radiation monitoring around Tokai reprocessing plant FY 2000

Maruo, Yoshihiro; ; Takeishi, Minoru; ; ; Takeyasu, Masanori;

JNC TN8440 2001-011, 146 Pages, 2001/06

JNC-TN8440-2001-011.pdf:2.98MB

Environmental radiation monitoring around the Tokai Reprocessing Plant has been performed since 1975, based on "Safety Regulations for the Tokai Reprocessing Plant, Chapter IV - Environmental Monitoring". This annual report presents the results of the environmental monitoring and the dose estimation to the hypothetical inhabitants due to the radioactivity discharged from the plant during April 2000 to March 2001. Appendices present comprehensive information, such as monitoring program, monitoring results, meteorological data and annual discharges from the plant.

Concerming about the action for the criticality accident in JCO Co., Ltd. (JCO) occurred at 10:35 on 30$$^{th}$$ Sept. 1999, Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute(JNC) established "JNC's task force" at 12:35 on the same date in conjuction with Head Office and Tokai Works. And JNC's task force had supported the government of Japan, the local governments and JCO humanly, physically and technically until the jobs of the task force was transferred to "Support Assembly for Countermeasure and Research of JCO Criticality Accident" and routine line on 12$$^{th}$$ Oct. 1999. This report compiled the results of the environmental monitoring performed by JNC based on the request from the government of Japan and the local governments.

Detailed investigation on the environmental effects from the liquid effluent of JNC reprocessing plant (IV); (April, 1996$$sim$$March, 2000)

; Shinohara, Kunihiko; ; ; ; Isozaki, Tokuju; ; *

JNC TN8440 2000-003, 93 Pages, 2000/08

JNC-TN8440-2000-003.pdf:2.2MB

The investigation on the radioactivity concentration for gross beta, $$^{3}$$H and $$^{137}$$Cs in seawater collected around the discharge point had been performed in order to grasp the change of the activity level of the coastal seawater offshore the JNC Tokai Works from the low level liquid effluent of the reprocessing plant. After the investigation on the radioactivity in seawater during the hot examination, the detailed investigation on the environmental effects from the liquid effluent of JNC reprocessing plant has been performed since July 1978 on the basis of the request from Ibaraki prefecture as the full-scale operation of the reprocessing plant. Consequently, no increase of the radioactive concentration due to the discharged effluent has been observed. And also, as the result of the consideration to the investigation on the environmental effect from the liquid effluent throughout 22 years since 1978, no change of the radioactive concentration level in seawater was recognized.

Expansion of material balance analysis function on nuclear fuel cycle

Ohtaki, Akira; ; ; *; *;

JNC TN9410 2000-006, 74 Pages, 2000/04

JNC-TN9410-2000-006.pdf:3.01MB

To evaluate materials balance in nuclear fuel cycle quickly and quantitatively the fuel cycle requirement code "FAMILY" was improved. And an accumulated TRU&LLFP quantity analysis code was developed. The contents are as follows: (1)A calculation ability of minor actinide production and expenditure was added to the "FAMILY" code. (2)An output program for the "FAMILY" calculation results was developed. (3)A simple version of "FAMILY" code was developed. (4)An analysis code for accumulated TRU&LLFP quantity in nuclear fuel cycle was developed.
